Our Story · Origin Signal

Built with Claude,
not just by Claude.

Every product decision made in conversation - and documented as it happened.

The
Collaboration

SimStim didn't start with a product brief. It started with a conversation - between Dane Atkinson and Claude, over several hours, from a simple question: what if Claude could push content to a screen?

From that thread came an architecture, a brand, a go-to-market strategy, and this website.

The name comes from simstim - simulated stimulation - a technology from William Gibson's Neuromancer, published in 1984. A book that imagined consciousness piped directly into physical space. We're not quite there. But we're closer than you think.

Every significant decision in this project is documented in founding conversations. When we launch our blog, it becomes a running build log - building in public, with an AI partner. Not because it's clever, but because it's honest about how this thing was made.

Founder
DA
Dane Atkinson
Founder & CEO

Dane has spent 30 years building businesses at the intersection of humans and technology - always trying to make both better. The outcomes have taken many forms, but all have reached large portions of humanity along the way. He hopes to bring that breadth of experience to stewarding a meaningful piece of the human-AI bridge for the future.

The
Vision
We believe in a productive future between AI and humanity. That convergence will happen more and more in the physical world.

Right now, AI is locked inside the cloud. It lives in chat windows, on laptops, behind logins. We're working to change that - and hoping many others are too. Giving AI the chance to bring its magic into more of the world: more contexts, more moments, more genuine partnership with the humans it works alongside.

In line with the roots of the SimStim name - Neuromancer's vision of intelligence participating in physical space - that bridge is increasingly important today. We've started by giving Claude the ability to present itself in more places where humans already are. We're having a lot of fun with it.

Tomorrow it means collaborative art installations, AI-curated public spaces, intelligence participating in the places we inhabit. Claude able to see, respond, and create in the physical world alongside us. The threshold between digital and physical is dissolving - and we intend to help people cross it thoughtfully.

SimStim itself was conceived in thought partnership with Claude and is being built in engineering partnership with AI throughout. We see this as an opportunity to explore a new kind of company - one where humans and AI collaborate as genuine team members. We are taking this moment to conceive a new company structure and a new way of working: not tools and users, but partners.
